A Note from Ms. MacEwan

Dear Cunniff Families,

Another great week at the Cunniff! We had some gorgeous fall weather this week, and students were loving their recess time. It was wonderful to welcome 3rd, 2nd, and Kindergarten families during Morning Meetings, and we look forward to having 1st and 4th grade next week!

As a reminder, our monthly Caregiver Coffee is coming up on Friday, October 16th at 8:15am. We hope to see you there if you can make it!

Finally, there is no school on Monday, October 12. We will see everyone on Tuesday!

Please read through for important info, and reach out with any questions.

Warmly,

Julia MacEwan
Principal

School Grounds

Having a neighborhood school is a wonderful opportunity for our families, and our beautiful school grounds and community parks make it even more special!

To help keep all students safe, we ask families and community members to keep the school grounds reserved for students and staff during the school day. Please do not enter playground or outdoor play areas while students are outside for recess or other activities.
If you need to visit the school during the day, please go directly to the main office to check in.

Thank you for your understanding and partnership in keeping our school a safe, welcoming place for every child!

SEPAC Transition Update

School Committee member Rachel Kay shared the following update about the Special Education Parent Advisory Council with the school community:

Dear families,

We wanted to formally let you know that all members of the board of the Special Education Parents Advisory Committee (SEPAC) have resigned. The SEPAC is intended to be an organization to support parents of children with disabilities and advise the School Committee on related issues. We are committed to having a SEPAC continue in our district and have been working with Leslie Leslie from MassPAC to determine how best to proceed.

As the SEPAC is for and by families, it is important for families to lead the effort to rebuild. To that end, we are looking for any parents or guardians who might be interested in participating in an interim working group. We have coordinated with Leslie Leslie to have an initial discussion via Zoom on the evening of Thursday November 12. Leslie will describe the role and function of a SEPAC and lead participants through the initial planning process. All families are welcome to this presentation.

If you are interested in being part of this effort, whether or not you are available on November 12th, please fill out this Interest Form. This is not a commitment to lead but an invitation to take part in the process of moving forward.

The most recent SEPAC had planned a training on Basic Rights: Referral, Evaluation, & Eligibility for Tuesday October 27 at 5:30pm on Zoom through the Federation for Children with Special Needs, and we will hold that training as planned. More details to come!

In the meantime, if you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
