A Note from Ms. MacEwan
Dear Cunniff Families,

Did you know that today is our 90th day of school, also known as Half-Way Day? Well, it is! Happy Half-Way Day!

We are so thrilled to have completed our mid-year assessments this week. Our teams will be diving into data, and making instructional adjustments in order to best serve our students and make sure they have what they need.

Report cards will be sent home next Friday, January 31. Information from our mid-year assessments will be included with report cards. Should you have any questions regarding your child's progress, please reach out to their classroom teacher.

In the meantime, I hope you all stay warm and enjoy the sunshine!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Julia

Cunniff Literacy Week 2025
Literacy Week
Literacy Week Details
Tuesday, February 11: Students and staff are invited to wear shirts/sweatshirts with words on them.

Tuesday, February 11: Please join us for a fun family Literacy evening at the Cunniff from 6p - 7:30p. All are welcome!

Thursday, February 13: Book Character/Leader Dress-Up Day! Students and staff are invited to come to school dressed up as their favorite book character or leader (no face coverings, please!).

Cool Cougar Fridays!
We had so many sparkling Cougars today!

Next Friday, January 31, we have a rare 5th Friday on our hands, and we will be celebrating Fuzzy Friday! Students and staff are welcome to wear something fuzzy (socks, hat, sweatshirt, etc) to school to join in on the fun!

Cold Weather & Recess
As we head into some of the coldest days of the year, I want to share what our process is for determining if students should go outside for recess. We turn to our district nursing department for guidance, but our general rule of thumb is that if the "feels like" temperature outside is below 23 degrees Fahrenheit, our wonderful nurse, Jen Cullen, will advise an indoor recess.

Please make sure you are sending your students to school with appropriate cold weather gear (coats, gloves/mittens, hats, scarves), so that they can comfortably enjoy outdoor recess. We strongly recommend labeling your student's clothing/winter gear with their name!

Support Children in Need
The Department of Children and Families is seeking to keep Watertown children in their
schools and communities. In order to accomplish this, DCF is looking for Watertown parents
who would consider opening their homes and hearts to a student in need of short-term
care.

Please complete this brief survey if you are interested in opening your home and your
heart to a student in need.
