Extended Day Program 1

Cunniff Extended Day Program ~CEDP~

The Cunniff Extended Day Program is a school-based program that strives to provide a safe and nurturing environment. Children of all abilities are welcome.

We provide a program with a wide range of educational and recreational opportunities. Children are exposed to a variety of activities that are designed to be age appropriate. Homework time and assistance are provided daily as needed. Lead Teachers plan fun and engaging project-based-learning for every afternoon and Instructional Aides run Clubs for each Group once a week.

Welcome to Cunniff Before and Extended Day Programs new

and returning families,

Please take a few minutes to refresh and become acquainted with the following

for the 2018-2019 Programs:

Before School Hours ~

Before School begins on the first day of school, from 7:15 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. for children in grades 1-5. Children are typically dismissed to join their classroom lines. Pk/K children will be welcomed on their first full day of school. Children will be escorted to their classrooms.

Extended Day Hours~

Extended Day begins on Tuesday, September 4th, between 2:30-6:00p.m.for grades 1-5.

Pk/K children will be welcomed on Thursday, September 6th.

Transition to Extended Day~

Classroom teachers will receive a student list of children who attend Extended Day. This assures a smooth transition to the Cafetorium, where staff welcome and meet in age-appropriate groupings.

This year there will be 6 groups:

PK/K, PK/K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th-5th.

Tuition Payments –

We have conveniently set ten months of tuition payments for Before and Extended Day Programs. All tuitions are turned in at the first of each month with a grace period until the tenth of each month. We do not send out invoices, and all tuition payments are made out to Town of Watertown. Your child’s/children’s names on the bottom left of your check and the program name will be very helpful, as your returned check is your receipt.

Early Release Days –

As part of the Watertown Public Schools, Our Programs follow the District’s Calendar. Aside from the Thanksgiving holiday Early Release, Extended Day begins at 12:15, immediately after dismissal.

Late Bird, Courses for Kids and Recreation Programs are not in session on Early Release

How to prepare your child/children for Extended Day~

As you prepare backpacks for school, I’d like to encourage you to pack a separate snack for you child, labeled “Extended Day”. Having a healthy snack and form of hydration sets your child up for a successful afternoon. I also ask that families with Pk and K children set an extra set of clothing inside the backpack.

I invite you to look through our website, the parent handbook and our Typical Day which are especially helpful for more insight and details about the Programs.

Sincerely,

Laureen Raftes, Site-Coordinator
